We believe long-term change for a better way of life can be achieved through the education of people in the underserved communities.

HISTORY

Founded in 2012 by Patricia Perez, Ed.d to help build self-sustainable communities in underserved areas of Mexico. FAMA is an all volunteer organization with 100% of its donation supporting targeted in-country projects. FAMA is not affiliated with any religious or political entity/institution.

  • What is the FAMA Mission statement?
    The FAMA Foundation works to empower economically disadvantaged people in the underserved communities of Mexico by providing health-related, financial and educational support to create self-reliant and self-sustainable communities, care providing organizations/individuals and households/individuals.
  • What is FAMA Foundation and what does FAMA do?
    FAMA stands for Friends Assisting Mexican Amigos. Our focus has been in and around the Puerto Vallarta area where Patricia, our President/Founder, has been visting for over 30 years and made many friends. FAMA was started to assist small communities to become sustainably, economically self-sufficient. To learn more about how FAMA qualifies projects, please see FAMA Development Model below.
  • Does FAMA Foundation receive help from the government?
    No, FAMA is funded 100% by donations by individuals, other non-profit organizations we partner with, and private organizations/companies.
  • Who started FAMA Foundation?
    Dr. Patricia Perez, educator and social justice advocate

  • Can individuals receive assistance from FAMA Foundation?
    FAMA’s primary goal is to help underserved communities who are committed to creating self-sustainability. However, FAMA has provided assistance to individuals requiring medical assistance to individuals in the Puerta Vallarta area that primarily worked at Costa Sur, an ally and advocate of FAMA.
  • Who does FAMA Foundation help?
    Small communities that are committed to invest their time and do the work necessary on projects identified to help that community become economically self-sustainable.
  • How does FAMA qualify projects?
    We work with a project manager and others that reside in Puerto Vallarta to identify villages/towns that meet the criteria of a commitment to the time and do the work necessary.
  • What are the benefits of partnership with FAMA Foundation?

  • Does FAMA Foundation accept in-kind donations?
    Yes, we will take in-kind donations as needed for events and/or specific projects.
  • What are the terms for company gift matching?
    We are a qualified 503c non-profit and would qualoify for companies gif matching programs
  • How can I get a receipt for my donation?
    A letter will be sent via email to those that make donations confirming the monetary or in-kind donation made.
  • Can I make a monthly donation?
    A monthly donation can be set up through PayPal (link) and can also be canceled.
  • How do I cancel a monthly donation?
    You may cancel your monthly donation via your paypal account at anytime.
  • What are the different ways I can make a donation?
    You may make a digital donation via PayPal (link), a cash donation in-person or by setting up a meeting via email (link info@famafoundation.org)
  • Can I choose a specific project to support?
    If there is a special circumstance we will honor donation to a specific project, in general we discourage this as we use a strategic method to qualify projects and utilize resources as responsibly as possible.
